Mailman/Jazzman Buck Hill

The Buck Hill Trio performing at the Corcoran Gallery's free lunchtime jazz series, which featured the best of local DC performers -- was good while it lasted.

 

Mr. Buck Hill, a well-known hard bop jazz saxophonist from the DC area, plays at the Corcoran Gallery. I encountered him when he came as a postman at my office building and later realized his other, night-time job as a jazz musician. Being a family man, he did not give up his daytime job nor did he go on road tours. He still plays regularly at DC clubs and is a fixture in the local jazz scene.
